The Wales Brain Bee is an annual event based on The International Brain Bee, a not-for-profit neuroscience competition funded by Dr. Norbert Myslinski.

The aim of the Brain Bee is to motivate teenagers to learn more about the brain than they would ordinarily do within the A-Level Biology curriculum and to inspire them to consider a career in neuroscience.

The Wales Brain Bee consists of a mix or practical lab work, video clips and written exercises that will encourage students to learn more about one of the most complex structures in the universe – the human brain.

Each year, teams of up to 10 students from a number of schools and colleges compete in a series of challenges and a multiple choice written test. The highest scoring school or college will be awarded the Wales Brain Bee shield, with prizes of gift vouchers worth £50, £25 and £10 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place students.

The sixth annual Wales Brain Bee will take place on Wednesday 13 December 2017 at Cardiff University’s Sir Martin Evans laboratories and Hadyn Ellis Building, where students will test their knowledge and compete to win.
